When I registered here on techrepublic, I entered my name etc. But the system chose to use the first part of my email address as the public “name” in my posts.
During first registration, I did what I often do, I “tag” different sites with different email addresses (that I then forward to my main address). This way I can easily fend off spam, if the user database of any site is used to send out mass mailings.
So, I got the funny name techrepublic@ here…
I have, changed my “user name” to Tobif, I have changed my email address. But it seems I’m still presented in the old style. Will this go away, or does techrepublic use a hidden field for this purpose, which is created together with the account and then stays, eternally?
