How do I change the start sequence on my pc.

By mikev9359 ·
I have XP & a Vista pc. All apps that connect to the web, fail because they start before I get notice that my wireless is now connected.
How can I change sequence so I connect before my apps load?

What kind?

by TobiF In reply to How do I change the start ...

What kind of applications?
And how are they started today?

In some cases, it may not be an issue, the program will start off without internet and then connect when the computer is online.

But I understand what you mean. I have a program that just goes crazy and commits suicide when there's no internet available. (I'm really glad I'm not that picky. I love to be online, but I do can live without, which I actually did for many years before internet became a fact.)

Does that happen on both OS's?

by Cabanas$ In reply to How do I change the start ...

Maybe you are running to many apps at start-up and slowing down the process.

Could be worthly to check your AP and make sure that the authentication is not being delayed by lost packets (handshake).

More info could help greatly! ;-)

too many apps at start-up

by mikev9359 In reply to Does that happen on both ...

It does happen on both OS's. In my Start-up folder (Start-Programs-Startup) I had my Comcast Universal ID. That's it. Now it is empty. Is there someplace where the apps that are part of my start-up are stored?

Look in your 'Startup' folder

Programs in your 'Startup' folder will start as soon as you log in. If you take those shortcuts out of your Startup folder then you can manually start the applications once you have connection.
