How do I combine 6 JPGs into 1 big pic using Paint Shop Pro?

By JADavis9 ·
I have a scanner that will only scan pieces about page size. But I have a small poster to scan and I want to create one JPG image of it. I scanned the 6 parts of the poster but I can't figure out how to combine them into one JPG using my Paint Shop Pro v 6.01,
I really have messed with this for a while. I tried creating a new file and copying and pasting the images into it. But they all seem to just center themselves or something. I am very confused as to how to do this. I have tried using the HELP in PSP and can't figure out how to do this. Can someone give me a quickie basics learning lesson?

You need to make your canvas larger

I would use a digital camera to capture the poster but I will help with your question a bit anyway.

Be systematic. Start with the upper left corner for example. Next you need to make your canvas large enough to hold all of the parts. Under edit there should be a "Canvas size" or "Image Size". This will come up with options like X and Y in pixels or inches. If you can set it to inches and you know how big the poster is that would be prime. If you are working with pixels just muliply the length by 3 and make sure that the length and width are linked so they change together.

Now that you have a large enough canvas to hold the parts you can copy and paste the images in one by one and line them up. After you paste you should be able to just grab the resulting selection and drag it around. There will be overlap and it may not be seemless. Ultimately this is more effort than it is worth.

Again, I say: "Take a high resolution picture of the poser with a digital camera" Save yourself some time and effort. The end result may look better too, if you have a nice camera and good lighting.

Thanks for your input. I'll just try taking a pic with my camera!

Even though I already scanned this stuff, it sure seems like taking one new pic will be much easier. I was just thinking that I should know how to combine these into one since I'm pretty sure that I've done that type of thing in the past. I just couldn't remember how I did it.
The pics that I scanned would need to be overlapped into one big pic since I wouldn't want to just lay them next to each other since there would then be some stuff shown on 2 sections side-by-side. I'm sure that can be done as I've probably done it in the past (years ago) but it would take lots of work to make it hopefully look nice.
So taking one new pic sounds a LOT easier. Thanks for helping push me in that direction!

Give it go. And from two pictures you can then test out the six picture option.

I'm just gonna stick with the pic of the whole thing that I took after Spitfire suggested that, but I'll save this info and try to learn how to do it. Thanks!
By the way, I am typing this in as a Reply after clicking Reply below your input. What is the difference between typing something in as a Reply or as an Answer on this site? And why doesn't it give me your name above this text box right now while I am typing in this Reply?

I'm just making my own Notes to help me learn how to use this site and figure out the diferences between hitting Reply below a posting or just typing this in Answer The Question like I am doing right now. Answer The Question lets you type in a new Subject line but using Reply must just put Response To Answer in the My Stuff column. Hmmmm
