How do I delete Adobe Malware?

By abbaella ·
Found Adobe Reader 9.4.2 -CPSlD_83708 on my computer ("cannot be removed") It overrides Webroot system...Webroot had me uninstall/reinstall and it still prevents scans etc. Had geek squad remote attempt to clean up system...they got kicked off our internet connection. I can (am allowed?) to function so how can I delete this fake 'Adobe Update?

a) Restore computer
b) delete all Adobe programs then reinstall?
c) none of the above...
Please provide response...I am not too computer literate...Plain language please.

Revo Uninstaller

What you likely have is legitimate Adobe Reader update that is failing to install properly. Try uninstalling Adobe Reader using Revo Uninstaller. Then Download and install Adobe Reader X (current version) or install Foxit Reader rather than Adobe Reader.

I tend to agree you seem to have a Broken Adobe Update

But have you tried in Safe Mode?

Failing that I would tend to agree with the above post delete Adobe Reader use Revo Uninstaller and then install the newest Adobe Reader if you actually need it.

CCleaner may also help

Adobe Reader is not malware. It's no piece of great software, but it's not malware.

I've never heard of a malware application pretending to be Adobe Reader update, so my guess is just that the Adobe updater process is really messed up.

It's possible that the executable file related to the update IS virus infected, but that's a differenet problem.

Most likely the problem is that the registry is corrupted or otherwise messed up.

I would:
a) make a good copy of your files to an external drive
b) run an app like CC Cleaner and MBAM (Malware Bytes)
c) run Windows system Restore

If there is a nasty malware infection, system restore may not work.

if you cant uninstall it, use revo uninstaller, it shoudl be able to pull out all the adobe software, then i would reinstall in manually.
