Use 'CCleaner' ...

Download and run CCleaner:

http://www.ccleaner.com/download

When you run it, in the left hand column the third option down is called 'Tools' - in it there is a screen much the same as the Add/Remove screen, except it lists far more entries for deletion.

Other than that, I would advise you have a look inside the program directory for an uninstaller routine.

After you have removed the program you should then run the Registry Cleaner at option #2.

use revo uninstaller

it is one of the cleanest ways to uninstall a program.

it will scan your registry and look for old directories related to the program you uninstalled and removes them also.

Possibilities

Depending on how the software was written, it may have a process that continues to run. This is even when it appears that the software has been closed. End the process associated with the software if it is still running.

Another thought is that the software in question is of the stand alone variety. In that case, simply locate the executable file and delete it. You can tell if the software is of that variety by whether a installer ran when installing the software.
