How do I disable msg at Logon time?

By robert.walsh ·
How do I disable message "Netware compatible shell is not available"? I see this when rebooting the PC and I just click OK to this warning reminder all the time, all the time, all the time, so how do I disable seeing this, all the time , all the time,.. You get the point. Thanks!

Check these links for help:

(Sometimes when I cut and paste URL's it looks ok to me but once the answer is posted, an extraneous space will have crept in. Make sure you delete any extraneous spaces or the page won't load)

You have not given much information. I am assuming that you are using REDMOND software. If that is the case, there are a few locations you can check to see what is loading.

1. Startup folder (if you have multiple profiles, then check all of them, particularly the 'all users' profile)

2. Check the Win.ini file. There may be something after the RUN= and the LOAD= . If something is there, copy the file and then remove the item there, reboot and check (assuming it is refering to your Netware error)

3. Check the registry RUN folders.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/ (all folders that start with the word RUN, Run, run once, run once ex. etc)
WARNING: any edit of the registry can cause your computer problems. Make a backup copy of the registry before making any modifications.

4. Check your System.ini file. It loads drivers needed for the OS. you will have to examine each line closely to determine if there is anything related to your Netware error.

5. Lastly, run a search for any file or program CONTAINING any reference to your Netware error.

Try these and let me know the results.

Best of Luck

Mike E.
