How do i get my vista laptop to boot from a cd

hi, i cant seem to get my acer aspire laptop to boot from the dvd drive. ive tried messin around in the bios but its phoenix and theres limited things to play with. ive played around with what boots first and nothing. im going crazy here because i want my xp cd to load on boot. can anyone help me pleasE????????

see if the F12 function key will give you access to the CD/DVD drive by pressing it on startup. You should also be able to set it as first boot device in the BIOS.

download sata drivers to boot from xp cd when u have vista

hi iam madhav
first watch ur laptop serial number and download that laptops sata drivers and copy those sata bootable drivers to ur flopy drive
when u insert ur xp cd in cd rom, also u have to connect ur external flopy drive with ur flopy which has already copied ur sata drivers of ur laptop
press f3 r f6 (it shows)when ur going to boot from cd of xp select third party softwear and press he button what u have seen f3 r f6 when it detect hdd it takes ur sata drivers from flopy ur hdd wil shown ,i did many of times u can also
