I have a Dell Inspiron 2500 notebook how do I get started using a firewire connection to a CD-RW. So what hardware and software do I need? Are there compatability concerns? Thanks.

It's very straight forward really, particularly if you buy a Firewire CD Writer. I bought a firewire box and installed my own writer. Adaptec Easy CD & Nero Burning ROM software support firewire attached drives. So just buy a drive, with overrun protection such as burnproof, justlink, etc, plug it together & I'm sure it will all work fine and significantly better than a USB setup. Good Luck....
You will need a firewire (iEEE 1394) expansion card for your laptop. Don't forget to pick up one of those when you get the RW. The comment about Burn-Proof/Just Link/etc. is a great recommendation. Don't buy any CDRW without buffer underrun protection (unless you like coasters).
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
How do I get started with firewire
Thanks.
