How do I get Task Mgr/Lock Computer Screen back?

By drvon ·
I XP Pro SP2. For some reason I started getting a "Task Manager Has Been Disabled By Your Administrator." message. I used TechRepublic's fix of using the gpedit.msc and now the task manager comes up.

But.... When I hit ctrl-alt-del the task manager comes up instead of the screen with the various choices such as task manager, lock computer, etc. How do I get this screen back?

How to get your Task Mgr/Lock Computer Screen back

In the User Accounts section of the Control Panel, there are 2 options listed under "Change the way users log on or off". The first is whether or not to use the Welcome Screen, and the other one is about "fast user switching". The second is sort of a subset of the first, as it can only be enabled/disabled if the Welcome Screen is used. I have found that to get the 6-button option window back, you have to uncheck the box for using the Welcome Screen. That's it! It was driving me crazy, too.
