Invest more for lab

You need W2K to play with. At least upgrade to 128MB to play with W2K. You may be able to use "simulation" on some training kits. However, to pass network or AD exam, you need network for studying. So self-studying without the 2rd computer, you would pass only W2K Pro and may pass W2K Server.

Keep in mind that you need 2 electives. Which exams will you choose?

With good study guide and equipment, you can study and take about one exam per month to become MCSE by the end of year.

Scour the internet for information, do upgrade your hardware but you can find plently of info out there. I self studied MCSE, A+, CCNA...I never owned a computer, used one at work.
