How do i install 7 without booting from disc ?

By MSI Centurion ·
Hey guys , I have a computer Running XP and when i try and install windows 7 it gives me the following :

Windows was unable to create a required installation folder , Please Reconfigure your boot.wim file to use the Flag 9 settings for the first image, and restart your installation.

Error Code: 0x8030002F.

My Computer Wont boot from the Disc on any of my Drives. Is there a way to get round this or bypass this or somthing to download to help ?

Any help would be Great! I Have another computer with 7 on , but that was installed by booting from the disc. Thanks

You cannot upgrade from XP to Windows 7

by Spitfire_Sysop In reply to How do i install 7 withou ...

You have to install Vista first and then 7 but DO NOT DO THAT!

I would recommend trying a USB drive too. Not sure why you can't boot from the disc... Have you looked in the BIOS under boot settings? Can you boot from a USB?

Use this tool to make a USB bootable:
http://images2.store.microsoft.com/prod/clustera/framework/w7udt/1.0/en-us/Windows7-USB-DVD-tool.exe

If the computer is too old to boot from USB then Windows 7 may not run on it at all. I have done this and found that there are always some drivers that don't exist and something won't work even when you get it up and running.

Also have you checked this Hardware

With the Windows 7 Upgrade Adviser available free here

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=20

Which version of 7 are you using here? A 32 or 64 Bit Version and if it's a 64 Bit Version is the Hardware actually 64 Bit?

Ideally you should backup your Data and then wipe the HDD before attempting to install 7. If the Partition that you are trying to install on is in any way screwed up slightly or the wrong type you'll get that error message as the Windows 7 Installer will not correctly address the Partition that you are attempting to install on.

Also if you have a Multi Partitioned Drive and the Root Partition is full or nearly so the Windows 7 Installer will be unable to copy the Installation Files to the HDD which will then point the hardware to the Installation Folder of 7.

Also if the HDD Partition is not big enough to run 7 you'll get that error message and not one of those things is related to how you install 7 just what the Hardware has available and this is supposing that the basic hardware is Windows 7 Compatible to begin with.

Many systems more than a couple of years old are not Windows 7 Compatible.

You can instal without booting from CD

by wangwe In reply to How do i install 7 withou ...

When your windows XP is started, you can open your CD content of Windows 7 just like any other CD. Start the setup and it will reboot itself any continue. It worked for me when my CD drive was not responding to my bootable CD.
An alternative way is to create a bootable USB and use it.

Installing W7 from a USB Stick

by cobanoglu In reply to How do i install 7 withou ...

I have installed W7 from a USB stick on a laptop which had no CD Drive. Worked perfect for me. You need to have a W7 Computer (which you already have), a USB stick with minimum of 4GB and you computer must to able to boot from USB.

Just follow the steps on this website:
