How do I install Windows 2000 and NT Ser

By ypark ·
I am trying to install Windows 2000 Server and NT 4 Server concurrently with dual boot. Which OS do I install first and how should I partition the hard drives. Is there any driver or software issues as well?

Things to keep in mind is that NT 4 can't see NTFS 5 yet 2000 can see NTFS 4. Split the hard drive partition to two partitions, one for each OS. Install 2000 first

There's a comprehensive discussion here, and it says install NT first:

Starting with SP4, Windows NT 4.0 includes an updated NTFS driver which supports reading and writing to a Windows 2000 NTFS volume. Install SP4 or greater prior to installing Windows 2000.
When you install Windows 2000, all mounted NTFS volumes areconverted. This new NTFS supports features like disk quotas, encrytion, and mount points. These features will only work when booted to Windows 2000.

Definitely install NT 4.0 first - this is how I've done it w/no problem. Also, you do want to have a separate disk or at least partition for 2000 - they use the same WINNT directory for the system files, but use different profile folders, etc. Hope this helps!
