    How Do I “Personalize” A Computer ?

    Locked

Well, Our School System Telecommunications Dept. (which I work for) is wanting to setup a zero Admin network. I know all the registry hacks, but how do I put those into a Visiual Basic Program that will run once and then Destroy it’s self.

      Technical comment:
Your proposed method could be done, but I think a better solution might be a Kixstart login script. Kixstart can write to the registry and you can use it to put a flag file on the computer (or a key in the registry) so it knows when it has been there before and won’t run again.

      Editorial comment:
But for something much closer to a zero Admin network, you need something like Terminal Services with WinTerms on the desktop. For desktop PCs, “zero Admin” has been really oversold – we’re just not there yet.

      regards!
