How do I remove the shutdown option in N

    Locked

    by dmeese ·

When my users shut down the machine, I want it to restart automatically. Right now, they hit shutdown when they go home, and then hit restart first thing in the morning. When they do this, I can’t remotely access the machines at night. I want to remove the regular “shutdown” option and leave them with “restart” only.

How about training them to choose “Close all programs and log on as another user”? That leaves the machines on all night.

Is there any particular reason to restart instead of just logging off?

If there really is, run System Policy Editor, you’ll probably find your answer
      there.

Use policy editor from Windows NT. Assuming that they are on NT Workstation the ntuser.pol is the policy name for them. otherwise get the config.pol for windows 9x users. make these changes and then add them to their personal directories and in user manager point their policy command line to that directory.

      hope this helps
