Hi

Start->Settings->ControlPanel->Network->(tab to) Identification-> type the new name in the ComputerName->Reboot.
If you are using network:
Change the computer name then delete from AD on the server.Logon to a a workgroup then rename the computer then rejoin the domain. If using DHCP take it off there too.

Good luck

Mohamed

If you are joined to a domain, the other procedures given won't quite work. First, you would have to dis-join from the domain. To do this, right click my computer and choose Properties. Then, on the Network Identification tab, select "Workgroup" and type in a work group name (this will unselect "Domain" and remove the domain name). Click Apply or OK or Finish (whatever your option). Then, on the same Network ID tab, give the computer a new name. After you rename the computer, you will need to reboot. Then, go back to the Network Identification tab and select "Domain" then type in the name of the domain. You will need administrative rights on the local machine to do this and your domain account must be allowed to create computer accounts. Along the process of joining the domain, you will be asked to create a user account (you probably don't want to do this since you have a domain account - or maybe you do) and a computer account (which you must do to rejoin the newly named computer to the domain). When done, reboot and - you're done. Hope this helps.
