By FutureGrowthUSA ·
I asked this question last week, but to get the answer I am looking for & the help I need, I should have provided more system information. I have a Emachine EL1200-06W, windows XP home edition that I am trying to restore back to factory setting. I dont have any recovery disc's & the system restore isn't lettting me go back. any help would be greatly appreciated. I would really love a site I could go to & download a file to my usb to boot from. Thank you in advance for your support.

You can try the User Manual available here

But if there is no recovery Partition on the HDD you need to call E Machines and order a Recovery Set.

Thank you for your help, but the manual didn't have any information on system restore. Is their anything else that you can think of?

You could go out to google download the os your have a license key for put it onto a disk and boot fromt hat isntall the os and activate the os witht he key on your computer. Or like they said above contact emachines and request a recover disk and they should email you the recover dvd.

Downloading OS's from the internet is a VERY dangerous path to take. Lots of the installs are riddled with viruses, trojans, and other crap-ware that you don't want. Call E-Machines and get the proper install disks. In my past experience with other companies, usually they only cost around USD $20 for them to be shipped to you if you can prove ownership of the machine.

And as for your machine as it now sits, it is a paper weight until you get the OS back on it.

winxp and drivers

it looks like the only way to install windows xp would be to purchase another copy from an online store then use this to boot from and reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Here is a website that i found that appears to have some disks

Or you could try ebay and look for one there.

Then goto the following website to download the required software drivers and install them manually.

here are the drivers that you will need
