I had a problem with my new system. I was instructed by DELL engineer to use the Windows Vista Home Premium DVD to revert back to factory settings default. As instructed, I inserted the DVD and got the prompt “Do you want to revert back to factory settings (y/n)??? to which I pressed y. My system reverted back to factory settings. But, after that, when I try to use the DVD again for restoring back to factory settings, i do not get the prompt. Where in the registry the use counter has been set. The DVD is read only media, therefore, no changes can be made to the media. Some change has been done in the registry – some counter has been updated from 1 to 0. Please help me to regain the lost counter so that I am able to revert the system back to factory settings using DVD.
