How do i save an excel sheet, but so it only allows ME to update or change, but lets my shared network VIEW ONLY?

The best way

is to keep two copies. One as XLS, and the other as HTML (Save as web page). The other users would only have access to the HTML.

The reason is if one of them were viewing it, you would get a "open for read only" message when you tried to open it for changes.

use the protect sheet or protect option under tools menu

You can protect the workbook,the indvidual sheets, or groups cells. You can password protect this protection if needed.
Go to 'tools' then to 'protection'. You will see the different options to choose from.
