I read in one of the TechRepublic newsletters in 2008 how to send a text message to someone's cell from from your computer. I can't find that article again and am hoping to get that information.

Thanks very much!

Each cell phone has a carrier specific e-mail address for text or mms.

As the other user said.. You need to know the carrier specific txt or mms (picture) address of the phone.

I.e. AT&T
Text: phonenumber@txt.att.net
Send a picture message (mms): phonenumber@mms.att.net

A few others, not verified though.
T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
Virgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.com
Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
Verizon: phonenumber@vtext.com
Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com
