How do I set this up???

by gwnfld . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

I have been asked to setup a wireless network for a small company. Here is all the hardware I will be working with and how they are currently configured.

1. T1 – currently being used to access the internet.
2. Cisco 2600 router – used to connect the T1 line
3. Cisco Aironet Access Point ? All laptops have the wireless cards for access.
4. Netgear hub – used to provide Ethernet connection for the Cisco Aironet Access point.
5. They?re using routable IP addresses for all the workstations 208.252.10*.*** Not a good choice because of security
6. The DNS and Gateway they are using is being provided by the company who is supplying the T1(I think).
7. Their mail is POP3 and have talked about having there own mail they would like to have something like Exchange.
8. There is one Copier/Printer they are using and it is connected through a hub via an Ethernet.

They have a Compaq Proliant ML330 server small but will do the job. They would like an actual wireless network and I am definitely looking for suggestions.

The server is set up with Windows 2000 I will setup as a domain controller and use the Cisco Aironet Access Point as the topology. I will use the following IP range in my DHCP scope;

192.168.32.3 – 192.168.32.25 Workstations and print queues
192.168.32.2 Server address
255.255.255.224 Subnet mask

Currently they are using these addresses:
198.6.1.* DNS Server Pri
198.6.1.* DNS Server Sec
198.6.1.* DNS Server Sec
208.252.10*.*** Default Gateway
255.255.255.224 Subnet mask, provided to them.

After finishing the server setup portion and getting the workstations logging in to the network how do I configure the T1 for internet connection. What configuring needs to be done to the Cisco 2600 router. I have been in this type of router before when I was studying for my CCNA so I?m not afraid to get in it although this will be my first time on a live one. gwnfld@yahoo.com
