How Do I Set Up A DNS Server?

I was wondering how to set up a DNS server. I currently own a business for repairs and custom built computers. I do web design and web hosting. I am now getting into trying to set up my own DNS server , but I am starting to see that this seperatesthe men from the boys. I currently own 2 Pc's running XP Pro and a 2000 Pro machine connected via the Linksys 4 port router. If someone can email me back with some help , i would greatly appreciate it ... firstly for what purpose you are going to setup a dns server. there are two type

1. for internal network name resolution things.

2. for external(ip)network name resolution things.

in a big network to maintain network, usually network admin setup a dns server and maintanence of network is easier. because by means of ip address, it is hard to memorise all the ip address to connect the systems. if there is adns server then it is easier for name resolution things. so by means of names we can easily remember a system.

secondly from external network(ip) the name resolution things normally many people use service providers dns servers, if any one's network is biggest then they go for a dns server to provide name resolutions thingsthey setup a dns server for a bigger organisations. it is intilligent thing by using the service provider dns server. so get the ip address of the nearest dns server of your service provider so that u can minimise the dns lookup time.
