How do I Set Up Services for Macintosh o

By technogal63 ·
I've loaded Services for Mac on our NT server and tried to configure it but can't figure out how to set up the Appletalk protocol. It asks for an Appletalk zone (which we don't have because our macs are standalone at the moment), but won't allow meto assign a zone name. I've created the Mac Volume and there is a Mac File icon in my control panel. I'm obviously going about this the wrong way - any suggestions?

If you don't have appletalk zone, you just ignore that question.

If you want to define appletalk zone, nt server can be "appletalk zone feeder" by do this step.
- In Network Property - Services - Service for Macintosh - Properties
- Select Routing tab - checked Enable Routing.
- checked this router to seed the network
- Click add to add any zone name you want.

mail me, c_jirapitisajja@hotmail.com, if you need some further information.

In addition to the answer that you've already been given by Choo, I recommend that you use the Domain name your NT is handling as the Appletalk Zone name. You need to add this name, then click on it and choose make default and there you have a zone if you look back at the General tab!!
You also need to configure the Mac UAM Volume attributes and security options using the Server Manager --> Macfile option to ensure your Macs can use this volume. By default it is read-only, so you need to tweaka few things to enable you upload, access printers, etc.

Ho Ho Ho wrong Mark. I don't know about MacOS 8.x but 7.6.1 still need AppleTalk for the file/print sharing from NT.
