How do I start Xwindows from cmd prompt?

by galahad04 . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

I just installed Red Hat Linux v7.0. After bootup, Red Hat gives me a black command prompt login screen asking for my login and password.

In the directions I am currently following, the next step to load the GUI reads “Start X and your graphical environment if they are not started yet.” Therefore, the first question I have is, do the directions mean to start Xwindows? Also, what command do I type in at the command prompt to get into the GUI (Xwindows or whatever other GUI interface thatRed Hat 7 comes with)? Nothing I typed in seemed to work.
