How do I telnet/ssh to my CCNA lab from work or school???

By d33bo78 ·
I have a CCNA lab which includes a 2509 access router.
My Arris 450 broadband cable modem goes to a Linksys WRT150N wireless router. My PCs and laptops are connected to the Linksys.

How do you recommend I set up my network so I can be able to telnet to my Cisco lab from work or school..e.t.c?

I also have a 2611 with 2 ethernet interfaces.

But anyway... get a static IP from your ISP.

Wire everything up so that the 2509 has connectivity to the linksys. The interface it is connected on will need an ip in the range of your home network.

In your linksys router have a look at the firewall settings. Add a new rule (or whatever you do on that router as I dont know it) to foward telnet requests (it may have telnet as a known app, if not its port 23) to the IP address you setup on the 2509.

That should do it.

You then just telnet the external IP of your linksys.
