how do i?

i reinstalled windows xp sp2 on my pc now my usb hard drive has been installed as a "Initio combo device class" what ever 1 of those is and now i cant access it. it was just a plug and play, and came up as usb mass storage device then i could access it. how do i change it back?

Unplug your USB device....

Install all updates, this means SP3 also, then reboot your computer for the updates to be installed/written to disk. Once done re-attach your external harddrive and see if it comes up ok.

It is in a ISO format so you need to burn it to a cd or dvd disk so that you can then load it to your computer, plus it is handy for a backup copy for later re-installs.

i found what you said was very helpful and found another way of doing it for now witch was to strip it down and plug it in, inside my pc.. it worked like a dream.. but what is the point of having a plug in take anywhere hard drive that is now inside my pc? so i will defo try what u said in future.. thanks 4 the help.. i don't no if u know but why it don't work at mo is it is only picking up the circuit board in the usb device not the hard drive within
