How do you communicate the value of IT?

By Toni Bowers ·
Sometimes IT is viewed by upper management as nothing more than a drain on resources. To change this perception, the IT manager needs to find a way to define and communicate the value of IT. One way to do this is to track how IT is supporting business goals. Have you found a good method for doing this?

What my IT manager does is have us fill in maintenance reports on our calls then does a comparison with outsourcing. He does this every month. Don't forget to factor in immediate on site response compared to time delay with out sourcing. Every minute counts for the head honchos.
