How do you correct/get rid of, a carriage jam error on an HP 2710 all in 1

By Mr Happy ·
the printer's ink shuttle always stops in the middle of the carriage. We have cleaned it and manually moved it full range of motion. There isn't a jam we can feel. However, the error messege keeps returning and prevents printing.

Any help would be apreciated.

Sensor issue caused by damaged or faulty ribbon cable

by robo_dev In reply to How do you correct/get ri ...

A very common problem with inkjet printers is that the ribbon cables that connect the print head to the electronic bits are very fragile. Therefore a damaged or partly unplugged ribbon cable makes for a false error.

Some HP 2600/2700 series printers had an issue with a metal spring inside the ink-cartridge compartment near the print head that would pop out of position and go through the ribbon cable.
