How do you create a zone on a windows 2000 server? DNS is installed as well as AD.

On the DNS server console, open the DNS admin tool, should be in the start menu under programs\administrative tools.

If your server isn't listed on the left pane then right-click on the DNS icon and choose 'Connect to Computer'.

Expand your server icon to show the forward and reverse lookup zones. Right click on 'Forward Lookup Zones' and choose 'New Zone'. A forward zone creation wizard will run.

If this is a new zone the choose standard primary. If it's a copy of a zone already running on another MS DNS server then choose standard secondary. The rest of the wizard is pretty straight forward.

Hope this helps.
