How do you make WINXP a server

By Hrusha2002 ·
How to configure WinXP (PRO) to act as a Domain server with full file permissions and how to make other WinXP (PRO/HOME) computers acess it (workstations). Need all access and file domains and preferably security.

You can't.
Microsoft is coming out with .NET which is the server for the XP operating system. You will have to wait for that to come out.

The best you can do at this time is to set up a workgroup. One limitation of that is that you do not have domain security features, and then there is the limit of only 10 concurrent connections.

Although your not supposed to be able to, you could try using upromote.exe to do this. This will bump a standard File server to BDC or PDC.
I've never tried this and it might not work, but it's a solid app and might help you.
