How does a consultant write a resume?

By Murph2 ·
I have been a consultant for the last 2.5 years (1/3 of my career). How do I write a resume that encompasses all of the different client experiences I have had in the last 2.5 years?

Are there any sites that advise on this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

All I know is how I do it. I have one major heading for each set of consulting jobs. For the past year, for example, I have two major headings: one for consulting through TMP Worldwide and others for my own separate jobs. So that section of my resume looks like this:

March 2000-Present Consultant
TMP Worldwide

o I rewrote and automated a major B2B web site containing more than 120 business communities under 14 industries. This involved extensive work with Perl scripts for both batchand cgi-bin processing automatically to generate all custom community and industry pages from templates and work with JavaScript to provide custom flyover menus on each community page.

o I developed many packages for a major hotel management company including an intranet time audit application in Perl and JavaScript, an Oracle payroll register with PostScript output in PL/SQL, a contract tracking system as a Java applet, an intranet project managment system, a middle-tier server for all Intranet reports and applications in Java, a server management system in Perl under Solaris, and a central documentation system, as well as various report-generators and a fraud-detection system.

Note, of course, that this is my *detailed* resume which, at six pages, is far too long to give to an employer. For individual jobs, I always cut it down to what I think is tailored to the employer.
