I’ve encountered an interesting problem on my PC. When I access the internet, there are certain sites that I used to be able to visit now I can no longer get to. The error I get from the browser is “DNS server not found”. This error occurs in IE,Netscape and even Opera. I can access my ISP from another computer, same phone number, same ID, and get to the sites so I know the ISP is not at fault. I have deleted all the index.dat files from the PC and now I am wondering if there is somethingelse at work here. What is the common link on the PC between all the browsers and the Internet. Is there some software that evaluates and translates the URL on the PC? I thought that was all done somewhere on the Net. Any advice on how to fix this problem would be appreciated. Also, it does NOT seem to be OS specific. I was running WIN98SE and I upgraded to ME in the hopes of fixing this. No luck.
