How does one edit the Vista "boot.ini" file?

By Goldenbarstewart ·
The Vista "boot.ini" file (can't remember just now what it's called)cannot be edited with a text editor as can the Win XP boot.ini file.

How does one edit it for a multi-boot system config?

Good question! I installed Vista in VMWare and still can't figure it out

by Why Me Worry? In reply to How does one edit the Vis ...

I searched for the so called "boot.ini" file and cannot find it. There's some other crap at the root of the C drive, but I'm not sure if it's equivalent to the boot.ini file.

The more I try to figure out Vista, the more pissed off and annoyed I get at what MS did do it in a failed attempt to lock it down.

Edit Vista boot

Vista includes a command-line tool you can use to edit the BCD; not surprisingly, it's called Bcdedit. The syntax of the Bcdedit command is daunting, to say the least. It?s also something you?re unlikely to use often enough to memorize. Those facts are enough to strongly recommend using a graphical editor for the BCD store instead. I recommend a third-party tool, VistaBootPRO, which adds a graphical interface to handle every function you can accomplish using Bcdedit and then some.
