How much for a junior Unix admin

By css12govid ·
Hi all,
I am being interviewed for a job as junior HP-UX sys admin here in San Diego. The employer has the salary listed as "two years' experience". Try as I might, I haven't found any data that tells me exactly how much that is. How much is an HP-UX admin worth, minimum 2 yrs? Btw, I have seven yrs exp. Thanks.

Unix administrators make a good buck. I know because I am one. The job market is good for Unix types. I'd recommend that you don't accept anything less than something in the $95,000/year ball park.

Good luck. Confidence will win the day. :-)

I've been called in for a second interview. Any websites I can visit to support my salary requirement when I start to negotiate?

I'd say low end is $75,000 and high end is $110,000

Since you live in San Diego, I wouldn't accept anything less than about $80,000...

Keep in mind if this is government or education cut off 20%-30%. However, it sounds like they might be trying to sucker someone into a crappy salary to save a buck.
