OK, today i am contracting at a (very) well known web design agency in London.
My role is a user interface developer… (read HTML coder), but with over 10 years in web development I am not just a code monkey. I am here because the client wants double A rated accessibility (and why not i am sure they are paying a fair price).
But the design i am looking at uses split tables (header row is split from data content) and i have had to use almost every hack in the (preverbial) css book to get this to be cross browser and compliant.
SO is it just me who thinks that graphic/web designers should have more responsibility for creating designs that are buildable and accessible?
I have a dim view already of creatives as they just draw pretty pictures and get paid almost as much as i do…. now accessibility is the buzzword should they have to bear this challenge like the rest of us?
