How on hell I can place my reply just in the same column of the main topic?

Every time I post a reply in a discussion, I got it in the second level or more. Even when clicking the button which is placed next to the head posting in the “view all” page, I just got one of the second level replies as heading.
What’s happening? Is this normal?
