Our original domain was W2k and the domain controller was replaced with a new 2008 Server and the original W2K was removed from the forest a while back. My DC (Server 2008) is running fine and I recently tried to add a secondary DC (W2008 R2 SP1 64bit) to the forest but when I ran dcpromo to add it to the existing forest it told me I had to run adprep/forestprep on the DC. After investigating further I have confirmed that my current DC’s Domain and
Forest Function is still running in Native Mode – W2K and the adprep/forestprep has already been run when I checked ADSIEdit all setting were correct. Do I have to change that to 2008 or is there something else I need to do to the newest server for it to become a secondary DC or do I need to upgrade the domain/forest level to 2008?
