How to add a second exchange server in one domain

By dfdemo ·
Hi,

Please help...Our company has exchange server 2000, and we decided to add another exchange server this time exchange server 2003.

After installing the exchange server 2003, I was hoping to see the additional mail server in my exchange system manager but I only see one server.

During installation, it did not ask me if I want to join a domain... Please help if I miss anything.

Danny

... has this covered I'm sure.

The Exchange setup will not ask you if you want to join a domain. When you install Exchange 2003, the server you're installing onto should already be a member server of the same AD containing the Exchange 2000 server. Then on the schema master of your AD, run setup /domainprep (I think) from the Exchange 2003 CD and then put the CD in your new server to install exchange 2003. Again, this is covered I'm sure at http://www.msexchange.org and microsoft.com and many other sites.

Post back if you have specific questions.
