how to avoid user directly access web service link in .NET

By ana10 ·
Hi,

I 'm new to .NET development and I have one concern where user can directly call the URL of web service instead of calling the URL thru the application.
Is there any configuration or technique to avoid users directly call URL to web service and any good link regarding .NET security tips?

Regards,
Ana

MS Patterns & Practices...

...is a good place to start.

Here is one link, that talks about Web Service and .Net:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/practices/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnpag2/html/wssp.asp

I found the MS Patterns & Practices pretty good. Infact I started off my first ASP.Net project with the guidance of these. Some of the guides have step-wise instructions, that are of great help.

Happy coding!!!
