By Philippians ·
We have MS Proxy Server 2.0, if I want to block Yahoo instant messenger at port 5050 TCP, what should I do? Please, give it in details. Thank you very much.

Funny question. As far as I know Proxy is a HTTP proxy, and needs to be ENabled for a certain protocol to act as intermediate.
It does (contrary to its follower-up, ISA Server) not act as a filter for all network traffic. So you should do this blocking at the firewall which you (should) have in place...

Blocking at the firewall is the best way. However, if all your machines support IPSec, Win2k and above, than you can block TCP port 5050 using IPSec. If you do us IPSec I recommend setting it at the Domain level. Hopes this helps?
