ISO Buster

There used to be a software package called ISO Buster that would allow you to extract an ISO image to a folder on a drive.

If it is still out there, it should do the trick at least as far as creating the files goes. Running setup from the external drive is going to be the tough part.

How about finding a USB DVD drive and using that?

The answer to your question is, Yes.

Here's a handy guide from Microsoft.

As well as ISO Buster already mentioned, 7-zip will also extract files from an ISO file.
And it's a great alternative to WinZip, etc.
