How to calculate computing power needed?

By yudilukman ·
Dear all,

If I have to run some applications in my computer, how do I calculate computing power needed? For example, I have to run an application, access to a database, doing some calculations, etc, then I need a processor with x Ghz speed and y Gb memory. How do I get the x and y number? Thx.

If that is all you require look at the minimum System Requirements of your OS and then add 50% to get a half way decent unit.

Just running a DBase Program doesn't require masses of processing power unless it is doing something really special, what should be your main concerns here is the requirements of the OS as they will be greater than the actual program.
