How to change IP address of a printer?

How do you get a printer to change its IP address? I have used the Utilites that came with the printers to give them an IP address initially, but it doesn’t work when I have to change that address (or even the names on the Macintosh’s). It’s almost like the address gets stuck on them. Thanks
