Many times you can launch the application, click on Help and then About and it will show you the version and service pack.

Another way is to go to then click on View Update History (in the left hand frame). This will show you all updates that have been applied to your computer and when they were installed.

Just take any windows program Including Win2k go to the Help ABOUT XXXX( Prog name) Itwill tell you.
In win 2k Operating systems its in Windows Explorer

In Win SQL its at the same place. That's a "rule" in Windows.

For personal use, Belarc Advisor provides a full list of installed service packs and patches.

It even lists installed patches that are not properly operating.

This is for SQL 2K
To check current SQL Server service pack, you can use this query:

select @@version

The following versions are available:

8.00.194 - SQL Server 2000 release
8.00.384 - SQL Server 2000 SP1
8.00.534 - SQL Server 2000 SP2
8.00.760 - SQL Server 2000 SP3

To check for W2K
USE the SPcheck tool (!)

For Windows 2000 all you have to do is right click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. This will bring up a drop down menu. Select the Properties line item. This will bring up the System Properties window. There you can see many properties associated with your system, including which Service Pack has been installed. I don't run SQL 2000 so I can't answer that part of your question, but I'm sure that either About SQL under help or some query will provide what you are looking for. Someone else might offer a solution to that part of your question. Hope this helps.
