How to cleanup a .mdb file on a remote server

By simthaa ·
Hi,

I have a Microsoft Access DB file (ie, a .mdb file) on a remote server. I need to delete all records from this table. Can you please let me know how this can be done? I wrote an ASP file which deletes the records from the table. But the size of the mdb file does not reduce even after the records are deleted. Please help me with ideas of compacting the file remotely.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,
Sim

Once you've done the clear out

You need to run the compact and repair utility.

You'll need to set up a script though. It creates a compacted version, then once you've checked it still works, then you delete the orginal and rename the compacted.

Need exclusive access as well, so you have to tip everybody off the system.
