How to clear MS Office Outlook 2003 cache?

By Healer ·
When we are entering an email address for an email to be sent, outlook always prompts some email address with the same initial spelling that we have used before. How can we clear the memory so that we can start again? The reason is that sometimes we have entered some wrong address. The wrong address goes into some sort of memory. We don't want to select it by mistake in future.

Clear the cache

To fix this problem, there are two ways around this. The easiest way is this:

?Start typing in the address that shows up incorrectly.
?Hit the Down arrow key to select the auto completed address.
?Hit the Delete key to delete the auto complete address
The other way is by opening the profile folder and deleting the .nk2 file.

?Open up windows explorer, and paste the following into the address bar:

%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook

?Delete the Outlook.NK2 file that you find in this folder.

Use the second method with care as you might delete the wrong file.

Outlook.NK2 file deleted

For some reason, I couldn't reproduce the problem today when I wanted to try the first method. So I simply deleted the Outlook.NK2 as specified with the second method. I thank you a lot and I shall keep an eye.
