By matthew.lofts ·
Does anyone know how to close Port 425 on a Windows NT4 Server. This server is not behind a firewall.
Thanks in advance

The only way I can think of is to only enable the ports that you want to use. If you go into network properties, protocols, tcp/ip, click on the advanced setting, then down at the bottom left, click on the enable security and then configure. You can configure the server to only allow the ports you need, I.E. 25, 80, 21, 443, 53, etc.... Don't know of any third party software to configure the server to deny only one port. HTH.

I took a look at the NMAP port file (nmap-services), and it classifies TCP and UDP port 425 as: icad-el

Now, I don't know what ICAD is. There are several different references to it if you do a Google search. The whole point is, some software is opening that port on your NT4 system. This is NOT a normal NT port.
What applications are running on the system?
Also, get a command line tool called FPORT. It will tell you what EXE file has a specific port open. You can get the tool from www.foundstone.com

hope this helps
