How to connect PC which is far from the DSL modem

Hi Everyone,

here is the situation.The Pc is far from the DSL modem like 2Km, what are the possible ways to connect this PC to this DSL Modem ? What devices will be needed & how much it would cast ?? How the data will be transmitted ?

Are we talking business options?

You can do direct point to point wirless if you have line of sight.

You run fiber between the locations.

But if its 2 KM why not just drop a DSL connection at the other site?

I m not talking about bussiness options, There is no DSL service in my area. But I've a DSL phone almost 2KM far from my home. But I needed to connect to this modem & was looking for the possible ways.. I m not good when it comes to networking hardware, Could you please explain what is this point to point wireless ? & how it works ?? how much it would cast ... what other possible ways are available for me.

adding a second DSL connection would be the easiest and probably be the cheapest.

DSL is limited to < 5KM from the DSLAM.

Maybe the phone is at the end of the effective range for the service in that area?

I don't see any inexpensive options here.
Copper cannot run that far without hardware
being installed every 100 meters (and that's
using cat6a cable) to boost the signal.

Your only real options are, as someone has
already pointed out, single mode fiber optic
cable or a point to point wireless solution.

There are obvious drawbacks to running any
sort of cable for 2km... and a p2p wireless
solution is going to be expensive.

If DSL or Cable internet access isn't an
option where you are, then you may want to
consider a satellite broadband connection.

This is the type of equipment you would need for a wirless link between two locations. Not sure about cost. But it is enterprise class equipment and will likely be above your budget.
