How to Connect to Microsoft Outlook with Mac OS X?

By VJFriedman ·
I teach at a college in Israel. For the most part I don't use the College system at all - except for mail, through Microsoft Outlook, which I was also using on my PC. Recently I purchased a Mac Os X with Snow Leopard operating having been told I could access Microsoft Outlook. When I tried doing it, it didn't succeed. The first window asked for my email and password and found the system. But then it asked me for "incoming mail server" and gave me four options: POP, IMAP, Exchange 2007, or Exchange IMAP. None of them worked. The IT people at my college had no idea how to help (so they gave me this link). Any suggestions?

Are the network or server admins clueless?

I doubt it, but it does seem to happen often enough.

They absolutely have to know what kind of server, the server address, the protocol, and any port/security/logon information is required.

If they are really unable to provide this information, look at the settings in your previous client, or some other person's.
