How to control Traffic at port 80 ?

    Locked

    by pramodpatil ·

How to control outgoing traffic at port 80?? For example I should be able to access all the websites but would like to deny outgoing traffic for doubleclick.net.
I can achieve above by monitoring firewall log files and denying access by using Packet Filtering. But its to legnthy procedure. Is there any thumbrule to to achieve this by configuring firewall??
    Thanks in advance

The normal way is you run a proxy server, and have it manage a blacklist rules, blocking access to certain sites. Your users get configured to use the proxy for outbound TCP port 80 (and port 443 for SSL) access.
Running a proxy to handle blocking of some sites is what it’s for. A whole lot easier that way then using firewall rules.
