If you are able why not just remove the old drive, set the jumpers for slave and reinstall it in the new computer. You will be able to use it as is, it will appear as a second hard drive. You wont have to partition or format the thing just plug it up and setup in bios, that part shoud be easy since your new comp will auto detect it. It is really a simple thing to do. Get a 'How To' book or article off the net or from a book store and dig in! Go here for instructions and have fun and a sense of accomplishment.

The previous answer is the quickest - even if you don;t want ot leave the hard drive in the new machine - just put it in temporarily. and remember to reset the cmos after you remove it.

Alternatives are - buy two network cards and link that way (needs a bit of setting up)

Another way is via a laplink or null modem cable - using W9X direct cable connect

Here's a couple of other ways.
While I have hooked up a master and slave drive to copy files, it's quick and free, I would not leave the old hard drive in the system without reformatting it. Having 2 complete, bootable hard drive in the box can leadto trouble down the road. Windoz is not smart enough to tell the two apart if you install software to the wrong drive.
If you don't have many files, copy them to floppies, or zip them to floppies. It's slow, but you'll have a sort of backup.
Next, you could purchase a CD-RW, put it in the old PC, and burn the files to a CD. You'll have a good backup, and you won't have to copy them to the new box 'cause thet're on a CD that you can pop in anytime. Plus, you now have a CD burner for all those MP3 files.
Hope that helps.
